How do login to ClassCred?


You don't. ClassCred leverges Slack's authentication system. Once the ClassCred app is added to your Slack workspace, all you have to do is login to Slack and you will have access to ClassCred.




What platforms support ClassCred?


Currently, ClassCred is only available for Slack. ClassCred for Microsoft Teams will be available early 2022.




Do students need to install ClassCred?


No, ClassCred is added to Slack by the instructor or institution. Students automatically have access.




Are Slack and ClassCred the same app?


No, Slack is a collaboration platform where students and faculty can communicate. ClassCred is an app that adds peer recognition and gamification to Slack. ClassCred gets students engaged with 🔥, a class store, badges, levels, and more.




How do I add ClassCred to Slack?


Once you have a Slack workspace, go to the Slack app store and search for ClassCred. You can also add ClassCred by clicking Start Now in the top right corner of this site. Read more here.

How do I keep track of all the questions & conversations in Slack?


In our experience, you do not have to read every post in Slack. Students have the ability to tag you if your expertise is needed. Setting your Slack preferences correctly will ensure that you see all messages where you are tagged. Here are our recommendations for setting your preferences in Slack. ClassCred also has a questions feature that will show you which student questions have not been answered.

Data & Security

Does ClassCred sell student data?


Absolutely not. Your information will never be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the Services requested.




Where is student data being stored?


ClassCred uses Amazon Web Services as a hosting provider in the United States to store and protect your information. They are up to date and setup with the latest security standards and undergo recurring security assessments to protect your information. When you submit information via our service, your information is protected and encrypted both at rest and in transit though secure connections. We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information.




How long does ClassCred store data?


Personal Data will never be stored longer than necessary. The retention period is based on our agreement with each educational institution, the legal obligations we have to adhere to, and our legitimate interest to communicate with you to manage the service and handle problems that may occur. In general, we will retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You can request for us to send, remove or modify any information about your account. You can export data on the Instructor Resource page of your ClassCred site or by emailing us. To permanently remove your data, you must email us at support@classcred.com, and we will remove your data within 30 days of notice.




What information does ClassCred collect?


We collect certain information when ClassCred accounts are created and ClassCred services are used. However, we only collect personal information that is necessary to provide and support ClassCred services. The types of information collected by us, and the circumstances in which we collect it, include the following:

  • When an administrator adds ClassCred to your chat platform, we may collect certain information about you such as your name, display name, email address, avatar, and the names and URLs of the other chat platforms that you use with ClassCred.
  • We collect information that is generated by users through activity on the ClassCred services. For example, we collect the messages, reactions and forms that are sent, posted or submitted by users. We also collect data about this content (also known as metadata), such as when it was transmitted, who viewed it, and who reacted to it.
  • We collect information from and about the devices that are used to connect with the ClassCred services, such as device ID, operating system, and information from and about other application software on the devices that integrate with ClassCred.
  • We may collect information about the network and connections related to an account, such as the mobile operator, time zone, IP address and connection speed.
  • We may collect data from cookies stored on a user’s device. Cookies are small text files containing a string of characters that can be placed on a device that uniquely identifies the device. They help us understand how you have used ClassCred services in the past.
  • We may collect data from the chat platforms that you use with the ClassCred services. For example, the platform may communicate to us whether you are logged into the chat platform under the administrator’s account.

How does ClassCred use Cookies?


Cookies are small files a site or its service provider transfers to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers' systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. ​ We use cookies to aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better Services now and in the future. We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors and operating ClassCred. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our Services. ​ You have the right to accept or reject our cookies.
