Administrators and End-Users

​

Users of the ClassCred services are either “administrators” (i.e. teachers) or “end-users” (i.e. students).  Within a ClassCred community of end-users, the community’s administrator has access to all of the end users’ data.  If you are an end-user and have questions about your administrator’s access to your data, or use or sharing of your data, please contact your administrator.

 

Information We Collect

We collect certain information when ClassCred accounts are created and the ClassCred services are used.  However, we only collect personal information that is necessary to provide and support the ClassCred services.  The types of information collected by us, and the circumstances in which we collect it, include the following:

 

  • When an administrator adds ClassCred to your chat platform, we may collect certain information about you such as your name, display name, email address, avatar, and the names and URLs of the other chat platforms that you use with ClassCred. 

  • We collect information that is generated by users through activity on the ClassCred services.  For example, we collect the messages, reactions and forms that are sent, posted or submitted by users.  We also collect data about this content (also known as metadata), such as when it was transmitted, who viewed it, and who reacted to it.

  • We collect information from and about the devices that are used to connect with the ClassCred services, such as device ID, operating system, and information from and about other application software on the devices that integrate with ClassCred.

  • We may collect information about the network and connections related to an account, such as the mobile operator, time zone, IP address and connection speed.

  • We may collect data from cookies stored on a user’s device.  Cookies are small text files containing a string of characters that can be placed on a device that uniquely identifies the device.  They help us understand how you have used the ClassCred services in the past.

  • We may collect data from the chat platforms that you use with the ClassCred services.  For example, the platform may communicate to us whether you are logged into the chat platform under the administrator’s account.

Where your information is stored and protected

​

We use Amazon Web Services as a hosting provider in the United States to store and protect your information. They are up to date and setup with the latest security standards and undergo recurring security assessments to protect your information.

 

When you submit information via our service, your information is protected and encrypted both at rest and in transit though secure connections. We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. If your personal data is exposed to an unknown 3rd party we will notify you within 72 hours of the incident being reported.

 

How We Use Personal Information

Generally, we only use the personal information we collect for the purpose of providing, maintaining and supporting the ClassCred services.  However, there are a few other ways in which we may use personal information, which are as follows:

 

  • We may use the information to communicate with you, such as by responding when you contact us.  If you are an administrator, we may contact you regarding billing, troubleshooting, access and other matters.  If you are an end-user, we won’t contact you directly unless we have permission from the administrator of your account.

  • We may use the information to verify accounts, monitor activity on ClassCred services, protect us and users of the ClassCred services, and maintain the integrity of ClassCred services.

  • We may use the information to improve the ClassCred services and to research and develop new products and services.

 

Information Users Share

The ClassCred services have features that allow end-users (and their administrator) to share content, such as messages and reactions, with one other.  This content is accessible to other end users and could become publicly available if someone within your ClassCred community were to share it outside of your ClassCred community.

 

Information We Share

​

We will not share the information we collect except in the following limited circumstances:

 

  • We share information with the trusted business partners we use to provide, maintain and support the ClassCred services.  For example, we may use third-party subprocessors to provide infrastructure services, customer support, performance analytics, and email communications.

  • We may share information if we have your consent to do so.

  • If we transfer the ClassCred services or our business to someone else, the new owner will likely receive the information.

  • We may share information in response to a legal request (like a search warrant, court order or subpoena) if we believe that we are required to do so.

  • We may share information if we believe it is necessary to detect, prevent or address fraud, unauthorized use of the ClassCred services, violations of our terms or policies, or other harmful or illegal activity, or to protect us or others.

  • We may use or share data that has been properly de-identified, which means that the data cannot be used to directly or indirectly identify you.

Who has access to your information

​

Your information will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the Services requested. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.

Records Retention and Disposal

​

Personal Data will never be stored longer than necessary. The retention period is based on our agreement with each educational institution, the legal obligations we have to adhere to, and our legitimate interest to communicate with you to manage the service and handle problems that may occur. In general, we will retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services.

Depending on if you are an Administrator or End-User, you will have different rights regarding your data. If you are an Administrator, you can request for us to send, remove or modify any information about your account. You can export data on Instructor Resource page of your ClassCred site or by emailing us. To permanently remove your data, you must email us at support@classcred.com, and we will remove your data within 30 days of notice.

 

If you are an End-User, and you would like to view, modify, or remove all or some of your data please contact your Administrator and have them email us to do so. If you do not know your administrator please email us at support@classcred.com.

How we use Cookies

​

Cookies are small files a site or its service provider transfers to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.

​

We use cookies to aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better Services now and in the future. We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors and operate ClassCred. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our Services.

You have the right to accept or reject our cookies. You can exercise that right by not using our Services and/or using your web browser to accept or refuse cookies. You can visit your web browser's help menu to learn more about how to accept and reject cookies.

Changes to this Policy

​

We will notify you (for example, through ClassCred) when we make changes to this policy, so that you can review the changes and determine whether you want to continue to use ClassCred.  If you continue to use ClassCred, the updated policy will apply.
